The Best of the WNBA: ESPN's Top 25 Players

2023 Midseason Update

As the 2023 WNBA season reaches its halfway point, it's time for an update on ESPN's ranking of the league's top 25 players.

Who Are the Best WNBA Players Right Now?

Three former MVPs lead the way in ESPN's preseason list of the league's best 25 players:

  • A'ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces
  • Breanna Stewart, Seattle Storm
  • Elena Delle Donne, Washington Mystics

The Aces, Sky, and Sun each put four players in the rankings.

Is Indiana Fever Rookie Caitlin Clark Among the Top-20?

Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever's record-breaking rookie, is not among ESPN's top 20 players.

How Many Players on the Two-Time Defending Champions?

The Chicago Sky, two-time defending WNBA champions, have three players ranked in ESPN's top 25:

  • Candace Parker
  • Kahleah Copper
  • Courtney Vandersloot

Diana Taurasi's Legacy

While Diana Taurasi, the WNBA's all-time leading scorer, is not currently ranked among the top 25 players, she remains one of the league's most respected and accomplished players.

Tamika Catchings, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, believes Taurasi is the best offensive player in WNBA history but Catchings is the most complete basketball player she has ever seen.
